Join us in the stunning Surrey Hills, this workshop is aimed at Beginners and Intermediate Photographers and we will take your on a safari photo tour around the Surrey Hills through some of the most beautiful countryside in South East England.
The Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is one of 46 nationally protected landscapes in the UK, having equal landscape status and protection to a national park. The hills stretch across a quarter of the county of Surrey, from the chalk North Downs that run from Farnham in the west above Guildford, Dorking and Reigate, to Oxted in the east. The hills embrace an amazing variety of countryside, from the rolling chalk downs of yew and box woodland and flower rich grasslands, to the acid heaths and woodland of the Greensand Hills that rise to form the highest point in south east England at Leith Hill, all less than 25 miles from London.
We will travel through the countryside in our Land Rover and visit some of the most beautiful villages and secret hamlets, historical locations, beautiful and ancient English woodland and open countryside vistas.
We will be in a small friendly group of 6 people and Phil, your tutor, giving you plenty time for one to one tuition. Phil has lived close to or in the North Downs for the last 20 years and has explored many of the hidden lanes and locations with secret stories.
We may visit several locations or a few, depending on the light at the locations we may linger or move on. The workshop will cover all aspects of landscape photography and can be used to recap a beginner's knowledge or be used to focus on improving the structure and composition of your images.
We have a private room at a stunning country pub nestled in a hamlet in the hills, so if the weather is favourable we can view and discuss images there as well as stopping there for lunch.
As well as improving your photography, you will learn about the history ecology and geology of this area of Britain's most wooded county.
