This is a 5 night trip to the stunning Senja Island in Arctic Northern Norway., the second largest island in Norway with stunning mountain peaks and deep dark blue fjords.
This is a photographer’s paradise with amazing views, from deep fjords, imposing sheer mountain faces, frozen waterfalls, fishing villages nestled on rocky outcrops, secluded harbours, beautiful glacial valleys to stunning island views, an amazing environment for lovers of the great outdoors, wildlife and photography.
The arctic air is pure and crisp, the Sunrises and sunsets in the winter last several hours giving photographers fantastic opportunities to capture the landscapes in this dramatic location. We will also aim to capture the Northern Lights during some of the evenings.
This scenery is some of the most dramatic in the world, you will never have seen anything quite like this before.
During the trip we will travel to several locations for sunset each day, you will always be accompanied by a photographic guide to show you the location and help you with achieving the best shots possible. We will then be out for the rest of the day to capture the sunset before returning to our base. Dependent on the weather we will then head back out during the evening to search for the Northern Lights.
Our accommodation is a beautful Norwegian house in a central location on the Island, surrounded by snowy peaks and a river with local tracks giving the opportunity for snow shoeing and possible cross country skiing from the front door. The house is complete with a traditional barbecue hut in the garden, wood burner and sauna.
Fly from UK & arrive Tromso, & travel south to our first night's accommodation in our Norwegian home.
We will leave our accommodation and head out to the southern area of Senja Island, here is the trerrain is softer and more undulating. In the evening we will head out to search for the Northern Lights or take a walk out across the river on the local tracks.
We will head back out and travel to the rugged landscape of the North of the island for sunrise and spend the day exploring the rugged coastline and the iconic photogenic locations. We will stay out or head out later in the evening we will again head out seeking The Northern Lights or visit the local groomed cross country skiing tracks.
This morning we will travel out to the coast of the island, starting at sunrise, we will travel to discover the bays and beaches and capture images of the Fishing Villages. In the evening we will again head out hunting for The Northern Lights
We spend the day travelling around stunning glacial terrain and visit some of Norway’s oldest fishing villages, with their idyllic wooden fisherman’s rorbiers and imposing fishing buildings. In the evening we will again drive out to capture The Northern Lights.
Wednesday 15th January: We will again head out at sunrise for a morning shoot and then make our way back to Tromso, where we will spend some time sight seeing and the opportunity to buy souvenirs.
The weather in Northern Norway is changeable so the itinery may change, but we will visit the iconic photographic locations en route to and around Senja, if the nights skies allow we will also head out to capture the Northern Lights.
